Irish History Online offers Courses
Live & Recorded

VISION STATEMENT

My vision for this web site is represented in the two programs outlined here. It is my intention to produce a comprehensive history of Ireland and its people that is informative, interesting, and accessible. My courses are designed for students who do not have an academic background in Irish history but who have sufficient interest in the topic to do a little reading to better understand new topics and concepts.

This web site will be a work in progress for the next few years. I will add to the content regularly to expand the range of courses offered. I ask you to understand that the project is monumental in scope and that I have limited time and resources to develop it. I wish to achieve my vision in the context of the ancient Irish tradition of passing on the accumulated knowledge of our history to the future generations of people everywhere.

People who visit the site will have the option of selecting a pre-recorded course from the library of courses available, and the option of enrolling in my live online courses, when available.

To help those who visit this site I would like to introduce myself.  My name is Sean Murphy, and I was born and reared in Dublin. I emigrated to Cape Cod in 2005 to marry the love of my life.

I have a passion for my country, its people, and its heritage. I believe that history is a key resource and that it is essential to understand it and learn from it if our future is to be sustainable and meaningful.

I am committed to sharing my personal knowledge of Irish history through classes, workshops, and conversation.
